Data Limitations

Alerts are based on data from Lancaster University's magnetometer, which may not always reflect conditions in all parts of the UK. While the likelihood of an aurora sighting is higher in Shetland, alerts may be more conservative for those in England.

App Development and Data Source

The AuroraWatch UK app is developed and maintained by Smallbouldering Projects. Alert data is provided by Lancaster University, utilizing data from the SAMNET and AuroraWatchNet magnetometer networks.
