The Rune Giant, a new Epic card in Clash Royale, has arrived! Unlocked at Jungle Arena (Arena 9), players can currently grab one free from the shop as part of a limited-time launch offer (until January 17th, 2025). After that, it’s back to chests and the in-game shop for this powerful addition.

While acquiring the Rune Giant is easy, mastering its use in battle requires understanding its strengths and optimal deck combinations. This guide highlights some top-performing Rune Giant decks to try.

Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview

The Rune Giant is an Epic card targeting enemy towers and defensive buildings. At tournament level, it boasts 2803 Hitpoints and medium movement speed, dealing 120 damage to buildings—more than an Ice Golem, but less than a Giant.

However, the Rune Giant's true power lies not in its tankiness, but its unique Enchant effect. Upon deployment, it enchants two nearby friendly troops, boosting their damage output on every third hit. This buffing ability makes it incredibly effective in specific deck synergies.

Costing only four elixir, the Rune Giant is easily cycled without excessive elixir drain. Fast-attacking troops like Dart Goblins maximize the Enchant effect, while slower units can strategically utilize it for powerful bursts of damage. The video below shows a Hunter, empowered by the Rune Giant's Enchant, quickly eliminating a Lava Hound before it reaches the tower.

While not a standalone win condition like the Golem, the Rune Giant excels as a support troop, distracting enemies and absorbing tower hits while your other units attack.

Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale

Here are some of the best Clash Royale decks featuring the Rune Giant:

  • Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
  • Battle Ram 3M
  • Hog EQ Firecracker

Details on each deck follow below.

Goblin Giant Cannon Cart

While Goblin Giant decks often pair with Sparky, this variant uses the Cannon Cart alongside the Rune Giant for a powerful beatdown strategy with surprisingly strong defense.

This deck's robust defense counters cycle and siege decks effectively. The Rune Giant's Enchant significantly boosts the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including the Spear Goblins), enabling substantial tower damage. The Elixir Collector, combined with Lumberjack and Rage, provides further offensive support. However, its lack of dedicated air defense makes it vulnerable to Lava Hound strategies. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.

Battle Ram 3M

This deck revives the Three Musketeers, leveraging the Rune Giant to create a powerful Pekka Bridge Spam style of play.

Early game pressure from Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram forces opponent elixir spending, creating an elixir advantage by the Double Elixir stage. The Three Musketeers are strategically deployed later for maximum impact. The Rune Giant and Hunter form a strong defensive combo, with the Hunter cleaning up after the Rune Giant's tanking. Evo Zap supports Battle Ram pushes. This deck utilizes the Princess Tower Troop.

Hog EQ Firecracker

A top-tier Hog Rider deck enhanced by the Rune Giant.

Card NameElixir CostEvo Skeletons1Evo Firecracker3Ice Spirit1The Log2Earthquake3Cannon3Rune Giant4Hog Rider4

Gameplay remains similar to standard Hog EQ Firecracker, but the Rune Giant replaces Valkyrie or Mighty Miner. The Rune Giant's Enchant synergizes exceptionally well with the Firecracker, significantly amplifying its damage. Earthquake provides massive late-game tower damage. Evo Skeletons handle defense despite recent nerfs. This deck utilizes the Princess Tower Troop.

The Rune Giant introduces exciting new strategic possibilities to Clash Royale. Its unique buffing mechanic encourages experimentation with diverse card combinations. The decks above provide a starting point; remember to personalize your deck to match your individual playstyle.
