How To Complete Under the Straw Hat Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (KCD2)

Some quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* require a trip to Kuttenberg before you can even begin. However, reaching Kuttenberg opens up inter-region travel, allowing you to tackle quests like "Under the Straw Hat." This guide explains how to complete it.

Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat"

"Under the Straw Hat" is unlocked through the "In Vino Veritas" side quest, which begins in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, speak with Casper Rudolf, who's offering wine samples on the city's west side. He needs information to improve his wine. You can either impress Havel with your wine knowledge directly (requiring fine clothes and cleanliness), or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta, gaining knowledge by reading it. To impress Havel, choose "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your responses. Return to Casper with your findings.

Accessing the Vineyard

Casper then tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to gather information about incense. Avoid trespassing by following the main road. Speak with the recruiter; this triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Continue along the road, past a guard, to find Jerome. Inform him you've been sent. Jerome provides details about vineyard work.

Working at the Vineyard

Work begins the following day. Return to the vineyard in the morning. You can either earn wages by moving sacks and harvesting thistles, or bypass this and directly seek the secret incense. The incense is located in the cellar of the main building. Access requires lockpicking or stealing Jerome's keys. Locate the chest within the cellar and take the Sulphur Wicks to complete the main objective. Optionally, gather five seedlings for an increased reward (this also requires trespassing). If you chose to work, receive your pay from Jerome at the day's end. Return to Casper with the wicks (and seedlings, if collected) to complete both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." Continue your adventure with quests like "Master Schindel's Toys."
