Confronting the beasts of *Monster Hunter Wilds* is always a thrilling experience, each encounter unique and memorable. Rompopolo, however, stands out as one of the most distinctive monsters. This guide will equip you with the knowledge to defeat and capture this formidable foe.
Rompopolo, a Brute Wyvern, first appears in Chapter 2, Mission 2-1: Toward Fervent Fields, within the Oilwell Basin. Defeating it is crucial for progressing your journey to Azuz City. After your first victory, its entry will be added to your Large Monster Field Guide. You can re-engage Rompopolo in the Oilwell Basin or via the “Oilwell Basin Blast” Optional Quest.
For optimal preparation, equip water-element weapons (obtained from Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest). Prioritize fire resistance gear, either crafted from Uth Duna materials or acquired later from Ajarakan. Consider crafting a Fire Charm I or Defense Charm I Talisman. Finally, enhance your health and stamina with a hearty meal.
Rompopolo's unique attacks utilize its gas-filled, saggy skin. Be prepared for explosions and poison. Carry Antidotes, and remember your Palico can assist with ailment cleansing. Key attacks include:
Capture or kill? Both are viable, with slight differences in item rewards. To capture, weaken Rompopolo until your Palico notes its exhaustion, then use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps followed by a Tranq Bomb.
