Enchant Enhancements and Forge Weapons: The Stardew Valley Ultimate Guide

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 21,2025

This Stardew Valley guide details the Volcano Forge on Ginger Island, focusing on weapon forging, tool enchantments, and obtaining Cinder Shards. The 1.6 update added significant changes, including the Mini-Forge and innate weapon enchantments.

Obtaining Cinder Shards: These are crucial for forge functions. Find them by:

  • Mining Cinder Shard nodes (pink-orange specks) in the Volcano Dungeon.
  • Harvesting from enemies (Magma Sprite, Magma Duggy, Magma Sparker, False Magma Cap) within the dungeon. Drop rates vary.
  • Utilizing a fishing pond with at least seven Stingrays (7-9% daily chance of yielding 2-5 shards).

The Mini-Forge: After achieving Combat Mastery, craft a Mini-Forge (5 Dragon Teeth, 10 Iron Bars, 10 Gold Bars, 5 Iridium Bars) for convenient forging and enchanting outside the Volcano Dungeon.

Weapon Forging: Enhance weapons (up to three times) using gemstones and Cinder Shards. Each forge level requires more shards (10, 15, then 20). Gemstone effects include:

  • Amethyst: Increased knockback (+1 per forge).
  • Aquamarine: Increased critical hit chance (4.6% per forge).
  • Emerald: Increased weapon speed (+2, +3, +2 per forge).
  • Jade: Increased critical hit damage (10% per forge).
  • Ruby: Increased weapon damage (10% per forge).
  • Topaz: Increased defense (+1 per forge).
  • Diamond: Three random upgrades (10 Cinder Shards).

Best Weapon Upgrades: Prioritize Emerald and Ruby for increased DPS. Combine with Aquamarine or Jade for critical hit enhancements. For survivability (e.g., Qi Challenges), Topaz and Amethyst are beneficial.

Unforging Weapons: Reset weapons to their original state (recovering some shards, but not gemstones) by selecting the red X in the forge. This removes forged upgrades, not enchantments.

Infinity Weapons: Upgrade Galaxy Sword, Dagger, or Hammer into Infinity Weapons using three Galaxy Souls (each requiring 20 Cinder Shards). Forged upgrades and enchantments are retained.

Galaxy Souls: Acquire these by:

  • Purchasing from Mr. Qi (40 Qi Gems each).
  • Obtaining from Big Slimes in Dangerous Mines or Mr. Qi's quests.
  • Purchasing from the Island Trader (10 Radioactive Bars each, unlocked after killing 50 Dangerous Monsters).
  • Random drops from Dangerous Monsters (unlocked after killing 50 Dangerous Monsters).

Enchantments: Apply random effects to tools and weapons using a Prismatic Shard and 20 Cinder Shards. Re-enchant for a different effect.

Weapon Enchantments: Randomly selected from: Artful, Bug Killer, Crusader, Vampiric, Haymaker. Bug Killer and Crusader are generally most effective.

Innate Weapon Enchantments: Use a Dragon Tooth for guaranteed enchantments from one set, and a chance at a second set. These enhance stats like damage, critical hit power, speed, and defense.

Tool Enchantments: Twelve enchantments, each tool-specific. Examples include: Auto-Hook (fishing rod), Bottomless (watering can), Efficient (various tools), Powerful (axe, pickaxe), Preserving (fishing rod), and Reaching (hoe, watering can, pan).
