Final Fantasy 14 Stops Automatic Housing Demolition Shortly After Restarting It

Final Fantasy XIV Suspends Housing Demolitions Amidst LA Wildfires

Square Enix has temporarily halted automatic housing demolition timers in Final Fantasy XIV on North American servers due to the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. This affects players on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis data centers.

The suspension, implemented on January 9th, 2025, comes just one day after the company resumed these timers following a previous moratorium related to Hurricane Helene's aftermath. The 45-day demolition timers, designed to free up housing plots from inactive players, are now paused indefinitely until the wildfire situation improves. Homeowners can still reset their timers by logging into their estates.

This action reflects Square Enix's sensitivity to real-world events impacting its player base. The company is monitoring the situation and will announce a resumption date for the auto-demolition timers once conditions allow. This pause follows other wildfire-related disruptions, including a postponement of the Critical Role Campaign 3 finale and the relocation of an NFL playoff game.

The ongoing suspension adds to a busy start to 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV players, who also recently benefited from a free login campaign. The duration of this housing demolition pause remains uncertain.
