Geometric Arcade Delight: Frike Launches on Android

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 17,2025

Some video games get your heart racing and your blood pressure up—that's what makes them exciting. Others have a calming effect, inducing a state of peaceful relaxation. Both types offer unique appeal.

Frike, the debut Android game from indie developer chakahacka, uniquely blends these contrasting experiences.

The objective in Frike is simple: survive as long as possible. You control a floating triangle, evenly divided into purple, orange, and green sections. Two virtual buttons on the left control ascent and descent, while a right-side button rotates the triangle.

Frike features a single, yet expansive level—infinite in its scope. You'll never reach the end.

Scattered throughout Frike's atmospheric, abstract world are colored blocks: white, purple, orange, and green. Scoring involves rotating your triangle to align its corners with matching colored squares.

Colliding with too many mismatched or white squares results in your triangle's destruction. However, some squares offer beneficial effects, temporarily slowing your descent to aid in precise maneuvering.

Frike perfectly embodies a minimalist arcade-casual game. While high-score chasing can be intense, it equally serves as a relaxing experience, allowing players to leisurely navigate obstacles and appreciate the visuals.

Beyond its understated graphics, Frike boasts a meditative soundtrack of resonant chimes and delicate metallic sounds.

If this sounds appealing, Frike is available now as a free download on the Google Play Store.
