Navigating the expansive and often desolate Synthwave world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a daunting task—unless you harness the power of your Hoverboard. Despite the game's lack of explicit instructions, you're equipped with the Hyper Light Breaker Hoverboard right from the outset.

The Hoverboard serves as the game's sprint mechanic, boosting your movement speed to swiftly traverse vast distances while your Energy depletes gradually. This guide will walk you through how to summon and ride your Hoverboard, as well as highlight its versatile features that go beyond mere transportation.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

To summon your Hoverboard and initiate a sprint in Hyper Light Breaker, all you need to do is hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.

Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick in any direction, you'll lean and gradually turn the Hoverboard. The speed at which you're traveling affects your turning radius; at top speed, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, maneuvering becomes much easier.

To dismount the Hoverboard, simply release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy is depleted while you're riding it.

Your Energy level is displayed beside your Breaker's companion during Hoverboard or Glider use. If your Energy gets low, take a brief moment to jump off and allow it to recharge, preventing an unexpected dismount.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While there's no system for performing tricks or attacking on the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker, it boasts several unique attributes and special uses. Notably, the Hoverboard floats on water, enabling you to cross rivers and inlets that you'd otherwise need to avoid in the Overgrowth. The mechanics remain consistent whether you're on land or water.

Remember, you can't summon the Hoverboard once you're already in the water; you must be riding it as you enter to glide across the surface. Regardless of your entry speed or jump height, the Hoverboard will swiftly return to the surface, allowing your Breaker to continue their journey.

Another handy feature is the ability to duck and prepare for a jump while riding by holding down the default Jump input. Although double-jumping isn't possible on the Hoverboard, the increased speed can help you clear larger gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it can assist in timing jumps with precision, especially for those challenging leaps.
