Mai Shiranui Boosts Street Fighter 6 Popularity

Street Fighter 6, Capcom's acclaimed fighting game, has seen a surge in popularity with the introduction of Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. As of December 31, 2024, the game has impressively sold 4.4 million copies. Despite previous fan concerns about the frequency of new content, the developers have delighted the community with this latest addition.

Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter introduced in the second season, and her inclusion has significantly boosted the game's player base. On the day of her release, Street Fighter 6 reached a peak of over 63,000 concurrent players on Steam, a sharp increase from the previous peak of 24,000 to 27,000 players, marking the highest since May 2024.

Mai Shiranui is exclusively available to Battle Pass holders. Within the World Tour mode, players can develop relationships with her, learn her unique moves, and then test their skills in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added to the game.

To further enhance the gaming experience, the Battle Hub welcomes a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can try out his character until March 10. Alongside these exciting additions, new Master League ranks and rewards have been introduced to the game.

Capcom has released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, further fueling the excitement among fans and players alike.
