During his conversation with IGN at Gamescom, Boon addressed the concerns of fans regarding potential similarities in the combat styles of Homelander and Omni-Man. He assured that the development team at NetherRealm Studios is taking a distinct approach by diversifying the heroes' abilities. This strategy ensures that players feel as though they are controlling two entirely different characters.

Boon highlighted the creative freedom they have with the characters, noting their intention to avoid overlapping abilities, particularly those reminiscent of Superman. He stated, “Obviously, we could do anything with the characters, but I don’t think we’re going to have both Homelander and Omni-Man have heat vision or something like that.”

Further elaborating on the differentiation, Boon mentioned how they've drawn inspiration from the heroes' actions in their respective shows to craft unique Fatalities for each character. He emphasized that the core attacks and overall gameplay mechanics will set Homelander and Omni-Man apart, directly addressing the assumption that they might be too similar. Boon stated, “They’re definitely going to play differently. The main attacks are going to really differentiate them, but we’re definitely aware of the assumption that some people were making on, ‘Oh, they’re just going to be the same characters.'”
