Netflix Games Soon to Lose Two GTA

Big changes are coming for Netflix Games subscribers who enjoy Grand Theft Auto on Android. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog next month.

Why are these GTA games leaving Netflix, and when?

This isn't a surprise move. Netflix licenses games similarly to how it licenses movies and shows. The licenses for these two GTA titles are expiring. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear on the games before they're removed.

GTA III and Vice City were added to Netflix Games a year ago. The initial 12-month agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is ending. These games will be unavailable to Netflix subscribers after December 13th. If you're currently playing, it's time to finish up! However, San Andreas remains available.

What happens next?

If you haven't completed these games, you can purchase them from the Google Play Store. The Definitive Editions of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City are available for $4.99 each, or the entire trilogy for $11.99.

Unlike some previous removals from Netflix Games, Netflix is providing advance notice of the GTA games' departure. This is noteworthy considering the trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023. Despite this, Rockstar Games has chosen not to renew the license.

There are rumors, however, that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on potential future releases, possibly remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars. Let's hope this proves true!
