Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this crucial benefit.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice in the campaign: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance. Its in-game icon is easily overlooked, making it a hidden gem for many players.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' exact location within the Spires of Deshar map isn't fixed. However, its presence is guaranteed on this map. Thoroughly explore the area until you discover a shrine resembling the image above. Activating the shrine immediately triggers a combat encounter with metallic automatons. This interaction activates all automatons on the map.

A convenient strategy involves reaching the checkpoint near the map exit before activating the shrine. This allows fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, bypassing a potentially challenging trek through enemy-infested areas.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon shrine contact.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a cumulative +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing

Many players are puzzled when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each completed Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Therefore, after completing Act 1, activating the Sisters in Act 2 results in a net zero Lightning Resistance (buff cancels out the debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the -10% debuff from Act 2 adds to the existing debuff, leaving you with -30% Lightning Resistance after activating the shrine. To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you haven't missed the buff.
