Phasmophobia: Unleashing the Secrets of the Music Box

In Phasmophobia, identifying ghost types and escaping alive are paramount. The game's numerous updates have introduced new ghosts and interactive objects, including the Music Box. This guide explains how to obtain and utilize this valuable tool.

Table of Contents

  • Obtaining the Music Box
  • Using the Music Box
  • Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

Obtaining the Music Box

Similar to other cursed items in Phasmophobia, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its appearance is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to ensure it spawns. Only one Music Box can be present per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up, and interact again to activate it.

Using the Music Box

Several strategies employ the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a song. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its proximity. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. The activated Box can be placed on the ground, acting as a lure. The music stops automatically when the song ends. Note that holding the activated Box will decrease your sanity.

Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box

The Music Box can initiate a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:

  • Throwing the active Box (not placing it down).
  • Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Box.
  • The ghost moving towards the Box for over five seconds.
  • The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Box.

For optimal use, consider bringing supplementary tools like Smudge Sticks to manage hunts and continue identifying the ghost type or completing objectives.
