Pokemon Scarlet & Violet 7-Star Quaquaval Tera Raid Counters

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 16,2025

Get ready for another challenging 7-Star Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, this time featuring the fiery Water/Fighting-type starter, Quaquaval! This isn't your average raid; Quaquaval packs a serious punch. To help you conquer this aquatic powerhouse, we've compiled the best counters to ensure your success.

Quaquaval's Weaknesses and Resistances

Before diving in, understanding Quaquaval's type matchups is crucial. As a Water/Fighting type with a Water Tera type, it's weak to Electric, Grass, Fairy, Flying, and Psychic-type moves. Electric and Grass-type attacks will be especially effective against its Water Tera type. Conversely, Quaquaval resists Water, Fire, Ice, Dark, Rock, Bug, and Steel-type moves.

Quaquaval's Moveset

Quaquaval's moveset in this 7-Star raid includes Aqua Step (Water), Brave Bird (Flying), Close Combat (Fighting), Feather Dance (Flying), Ice Spinner (Ice), and Mega Kick (Fighting). The inclusion of Flying-type moves adds a layer of complexity, disrupting strategies that solely rely on Grass-type Pokémon. Ice Spinner, with its 100% accuracy and terrain removal, presents a significant hurdle, especially for Pokémon reliant on terrain effects. Furthermore, Feather Dance lowers Attack by two stages, and Quaquaval's Moxie ability boosts its Attack after a knockout.

Best Counters for the 7-Star Quaquaval Tera Raid

To overcome Quaquaval's challenges, we recommend these top counters: Eelektross, Miraidon, and Serperior. These Pokémon offer a potent combination of type advantages and strategic utility.

Eelektross Build

Eelektross's Levitate ability provides immunity to Ground-type moves, and its resistance to Flying-type attacks makes it a sturdy choice.

  • Ability: Levitate

  • Tera Type: Electric
  • Held Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Def, 4 HP
  • Moveset: Acid Spray, Discharge, Gastro Acid, Sunny Day

Discharge's paralyzing effect can create openings for attacks. Sunny Day reduces Water-type move power. Gastro Acid negates Moxie.

Miraidon Build

Miraidon excels at disabling Moxie. It's most effective in a team setting.

  • Held Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Def, 4 HP

Electric Terrain boosts Electric-type moves, while Calm Mind and Metal Sound provide additional support.

Serperior Build

Serperior offers a strong Grass-type counter, especially effective if Ice Spinner is neutralized.

  • Tera Type: Grass
  • Held Item: Light Clay
  • EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Def, 4 HP
