The new Ratatan gameplay trailer offers a thrilling preview of the game's unique mechanics, highlighted by an epic battle against a colossal crab boss. Unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, the trailer from Ratatan Works perfectly captures the blend of rhythm game and side-scrolling action that defines Ratatan.

Developed by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani, with the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi returning, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, guaranteeing its release on multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

According to the Kickstarter page, the Ratatan closed beta test begins February 27, 2025. Ratatan Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates and milestones achieved by the team.

The game has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on its original soundtrack demo. While Ratatan won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team prioritizes the closed beta, aiming for a polished demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: players will initially access up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added throughout the month-long test. He also noted, "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date is yet to be announced.
