Respawn Cancels Titanfall Universe Multiplayer Shooter

A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently shared on LinkedIn that the studio has halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in development for several years, was stopped abruptly without any official explanation provided to the public or the team.

Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb clarified that this was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled a dedicated "experimental team" for this project, bringing on board experts with a strong background in multiplayer shooter development.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project; last year, they also discontinued an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends.

The Titanfall franchise, which debuted in 2014, is celebrated for its innovative mix of action and mech piloting. Players can engage in combat either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans, enjoying a gameplay experience that integrates parkour with intense team battles. The series has cultivated a dedicated fanbase thanks to its distinctive gameplay mechanics.

Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other high-profile projects. They are working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe.
