TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with art by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza, promises a fiery conclusion.

IDW's official description: "The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its climactic conclusion! New York City erupts in all-out war, leaving no one safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are caught in the crossfire. Will they survive? Legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz bring this chapter of The Last Ronin to a close!"

In a 2024 interview with IGN, Eastman discussed the updated characters: "We wanted to update the characters. There are two male, two female Turtle characters, and Tom and I tried to write what teenagers might think, say, and do. There's a diverse range of personalities, much like the original Turtles. They love their family, but don't always like each other. They argue, disagree, but their family bond keeps them together—that's the foundation of anything we do with the Turtles."
