Wuthering Waves: Elemental Effects, Explained

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 22,2025

Wuthering Waves' elemental system has undergone a significant overhaul in Version 2.0, introducing Elemental Effects that go beyond simple buffs and resistances. Previously, elements primarily impacted character performance and enemy weaknesses. Now, these effects create direct interactions, adding a new layer of strategic depth.

Version 2.0's additions, including new Echo sets and character reworks, significantly alter the elemental landscape. Let's explore the updated Elemental Effects system in detail.

All Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs in Wuthering Waves

While present since launch (primarily applied by enemies), Elemental Effects are now actively utilized by characters. Each element boasts a unique status effect:

Elemental Effect Effect Description
Havoc Bane Stacks up to 2 times. At 2 stacks, all stacks are removed, dealing Havoc DMG and reapplying the effect to nearby characters.
Glacio Chafe Reduces movement speed; intensity increases with stacks. At 10 stacks, the resonator is Frozen (players can "Struggle" to speed up recovery).
Spectro Frazzle Stacks automatically decrease, dealing Spectro DMG over time. More stacks = more damage.
Fusion Burst Stacks up to 10 (unless removed). At max stacks, explodes, dealing significant Fusion DMG.
Aero Erosion Deals Aero DMG periodically. Stacks don't decrease when dealing damage; more stacks = more damage over time.
Electro Flare Reduces attack based on stacks: 1-4 stacks (-5%), 5-9 stacks (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 stacks (-10%).

Dodging removes all effect stacks.

Elemental Effect-Related Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets

While the game hints at broader Elemental Effect integration, current usage is limited.

Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:

Currently, only the reworked Spectro Rover (post-Version 2.0 storyline) applies Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin variant applies 2 stacks of Spectro Frazzle and a Shimmer effect, preventing stack decay, allowing sustained effect buildup.

Echoes and Echo Sets Related to Elemental Effects:

Only one Echo set currently interacts with Elemental Effects, benefiting Spectro Rover:

  • Eternal Radiance Echo Set: 2-piece bonus: +10% Spectro DMG. 5-piece bonus: Spectro Frazzle inflicts increases Crit. Rate by 20% for 15s. 10 stacks of Spectro Frazzle grants a 15% Spectro DMG Bonus for 15s.
  • Nightmare Echo: Mourning Aix attacks deal 273.60% Spectro DMG. DMG against Spectro Frazzle-inflicted enemies is increased by 100.00%. The equipped Resonator gains a 12.00% Spectro DMG Bonus.

Future updates may expand Elemental Effect integration, but for now, this mechanic remains primarily focused on Spectro Rover and its specific interactions.
