The PMRC Rondo Cup 2025 concluded this past weekend with an exhilarating finish, crowning Yangon Galacticos as the champions. The team dominated the competition, securing the victory with an overwhelming points lead and claiming the lion's share of the impressive $20,000 prize pool provided by PUBG.

The tournament unfolded on PUBG's latest and largest map to date, Rondo, which hosted 16 teams that earned their spots through various qualifying tournaments. Notable qualifiers included D'Xavier from PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers from PMCL Spring, and R3GICIDE from PMSL CSA Fall.

Yangon Galacticos' triumph was particularly notable as the PMRC Rondo Cup introduced the innovative SMASH format rules. Under these new regulations, a team needed to accumulate over 30 points and secure a victory in a separate match to claim the title. However, after six matches, no team managed to meet these criteria, leading to Yangon Galacticos being declared the winner based on their significant points advantage.

Arondo the world

The competition also saw HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports securing the second and third places, respectively, underscoring the success of the Rondo Cup and PUBG Mobile's ambitious esports initiatives that have been on the rise since 2024.

Interestingly, the inaugural use of the SMASH rule did not result in a win through this method, raising questions about its future in upcoming tournaments. Whether it will encourage more skilled and entertaining gameplay will likely be a decision for the organizers to ponder.
