Yoshi-P Requests Mods to Be Respectful and Appropriate

Final Fantasy 16 Mods Requested to Avoid Being

In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Final Fantasy 16's producer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) shared a single, yet significant, request with the Final Fantasy community. As the game launches on PC tomorrow, he emphasized the importance of not creating or using mods that could be considered “offensive or inappropriate.”

The conversation took an interesting turn when PC Gamer asked director Hiroshi Takai about his thoughts on potentially "goofy" mods. However, Yoshi-P quickly intervened, clarifying the team's stance on modding. He stated, "If we said 'It'd be great if someone made xyz,' it might come across as a request, so I'll avoid mentioning any specifics here! The only thing I will say is that we definitely don't want to see anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don't make or install anything like that."

Given Yoshi-P's experience with other Final Fantasy titles, it's clear he's encountered mods that could be considered inappropriate or offensive. Across various modding platforms like Nexusmods and Steam, Final Fantasy games have seen a wide range of mods, from graphical enhancements to crossover cosmetics, such as the Half-Life Costume mod for FF15.

However, not all mods are suitable for all audiences. The modding community sometimes includes NSFW content, which falls squarely into the category of "offensive or inappropriate" mods that Yoshi-P is keen to avoid. An example includes mods that offer "High quality nude body mesh replacement" with "4K materials."

As Final Fantasy 16 hits PC with an impressive frame rate cap of up to 240fps and advanced upscaling technologies, Yoshi-P's message is clear: let's keep the community respectful and enjoyable for everyone.
