Control your device with switches or the front camera, enhancing your interaction with your Android device in a way that's tailored to your needs. Whether you're using physical switches or leveraging the power of your device's front camera, Switch Access offers a versatile solution for navigating your phone or tablet without relying on the touchscreen.

Getting Started with Switch Access:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Navigate to Accessibility > Switch Access.

Setting Up Your Switch:

Switch Access uses a scanning method to highlight items on your screen, allowing you to make selections using your chosen switch. You have several options for switches:

• Physical Switches:

  • USB or Bluetooth switches, such as buttons or keyboards.
  • On-device switches, like volume buttons.

• Camera Switches:

  • Facial gestures like opening your mouth, smiling, or raising your eyebrows.
  • Eye movements such as looking left, right, or up.

Scanning Your Device:

Once your switch is set up, you can interact with your device using various scanning methods:

• Linear Scanning: Move through items one at a time.
• Row-Column Scanning: Scan rows first, then select items within the chosen row.
• Point Scanning: Use moving lines to pinpoint a specific location on the screen, then press "Select."
• Group Selection: Assign switches to color groups, narrowing down your selection by color until you reach your desired item.

Using the Menus:

When an item is selected, a menu appears with options like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. Additionally, a top menu helps you navigate your device, allowing you to access notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.

Navigating with Camera Switches:

Utilize your device's front camera to navigate using facial gestures. This feature lets you browse or select apps effortlessly. You can customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your preferences.

Recording Shortcuts:

Enhance your efficiency by recording touch gestures such as pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double tapping. Assign these gestures to a switch or access them from a menu, enabling you to perform frequent or complex actions with ease. For instance, record a gesture that swipes left twice to turn two pages of an ebook.
