This popular card game, played by three players with a 24-card deck, has undergone exciting updates.
Core Gameplay Mechanics:
- Barrel Goal: Reach 880 points to achieve a barrel.
- Penalty for Missed Barrels: Three unsuccessful barrel attempts result in a point reset.
- Bolt Penalty: Failure to score points in a round results in a bolt. Three bolts incur a 120-point penalty.
- Forfeiture Penalty: Forfeiting results in a penalty equal to the current score, with each remaining player receiving half that amount.
Game Settings:
- Winning Condition: Exceed 1000 points to win the game.
- Point Reset: Scores of 555 or -555 trigger a point reset.
- Solo Barrel: A player with 880 points can play a barrel on their turn without bidding.
- Card Redistribution: A configurable threshold for talon or hand point totals triggers a new card distribution.
- Optional Features: Ace marriage, golden round, and simultaneous barrel play options are supported.
Solo Barrel Gameplay:
A player can initiate a solo barrel round if they have 880 points and possess the "first call" right in the bidding phase. This guarantees them the talon regardless of other players' card strengths. An unsuccessful solo barrel results in a 120-point penalty and an unsuccessful attempt. Three unsuccessful attempts clear the player's points. If a player attempts a barrel without "first call", the round proceeds normally without point changes or penalty. Multiple players can simultaneously have 880 points; the player with the turn takes precedence.
