Game Overview:
Tongits is traditionally a three-player game using a standard 52-card deck. The goal is to minimize your hand's value by creating and playing melds (sets and runs) and winning by achieving "Tongits" (emptying your hand), "Draw" (having the lowest hand value when the draw pile is depleted), or winning a challenge when another player calls "Draw."
How to Play:
- Setup: Each player receives 12 cards; the dealer gets 13. The remaining cards form the draw pile.
- Turns: Players take turns clockwise, drawing a card from either the draw or discard pile. They check for melds (sets of three or four cards of the same rank, or runs of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) and can lay them down. The turn ends with a discard.
- Winning: Win by achieving "Tongits," "Draw," or winning a challenge.
- Special Actions: "Burn" (cannot make a valid move, losing the round); Strategic challenging adds a psychological element.
- Scoring: Points are earned from melds and remaining hand value at the end of a round.
