Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, marking a poignant end for a game celebrating the 45th anniversary of the legendary icon this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile version has been a beloved staple in the gaming community.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. If you're among the dedicated fans still playing, you have until May 30th to savor the experience.

Many players have voiced their disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to completely shut down the game rather than transitioning it to an offline mode. Such a move would have kept the game accessible and could have continued generating revenue.

This version of PAC-MAN, once known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just classic arcade vibes. It featured the iconic 8-bit arcade mode alongside a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. The game also included an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode offered weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, and the joystick enhanced the visual appeal.

The Reason

The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile likely stems from the game's increasing technical issues. Over the years, bugs and other problems have accumulated, contributing significantly to the decision to end its run.

Reflecting on its early days, the launch on Android was met with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings. Those were thrilling times for the community.

If you're eager to play PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
