Diablo 4 Adds Warcraft Legacy Weapon

Diablo 4 Season 5 may bring the iconic World of Warcraft weapon, Frostmourne, to Sanctuary. Data mined from the Season 5 Public Test Realm reveals models strongly resembling this legendary blade, hinting at its potential inclusion in the upcoming August update.

The current Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR, running until July 2nd, offers a sneak peek at the new season's content, including new challenges, items, and quests. While the exact nature of the Frostmourne models remains unclear – cosmetic item, legendary weapon, or something else entirely – the discovery suggests players might soon wield the Lich King's infamous weapon. The presence of two models hints at both one-handed and two-handed versions.

Frostmourne's Arrival in Diablo 4

Frostmourne's significance in Warcraft lore is undeniable. Its cursed blade propelled Arthas Menethil's descent into becoming the Lich King. Though destroyed and reforged in later Warcraft expansions, players have never directly wielded it within the World of Warcraft game itself. Diablo 4 could be the first opportunity for this.

This isn't the first time Diablo 4 has featured Lich King-themed items. Last October, the Invincible mount cosmetic (featuring Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination) was available in the in-game shop. However, this new discovery suggests the possibility of actually using Frostmourne in combat, not just displaying it.

Season 5 is expanding weapon options for several classes. Druids gain access to polearms, one-handed swords, and daggers; Necromancers can now use maces and axes; and Sorcerers unlock one-handed swords and maces. If Frostmourne is indeed a one-handed sword, every class in Diablo 4 will be able to wield it.
