Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features

Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key features. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the console's dimensions and design.

CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed significant changes, including magnetic Joy-Con controllers. These magnetic SL and SR buttons utilize a pin-release mechanism for detachment, ensuring secure attachment during gameplay. Furthermore, the Joy-Con's mounting channels incorporate optical sensors, hinting at potential mouse functionality via a yet-to-be-released accessory.

While larger than its predecessor, approaching the size of the Steam Deck, the Switch 2 remains slim enough to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, structural differences render it incompatible. The purpose of a new "C" button and additional USB-C port remains unknown.
