Once Human sits pretty at 230,000 peak player count, but it\'s still a long way out from mobile

NetEase's post-apocalyptic survival game, Once Human, launched on PC with a peak concurrent player count of 230,000 on Steam, securing a top 7 spot in sales and a top 5 position in most-played games. While impressive, this initial success might indicate a potential player drop-off, falling short of the initial 300,000 Steam wishlists. The game, slated for a mobile release in September, has already announced upcoming updates including a PvP mode for the Mayflies and Rosetta factions, and a new PvE area in a northern mountain region.

The 230,000 figure represents a peak player count; the average player count is likely lower. This early decline, coupled with the unmet expectations of the initial Steam wishlist numbers, could be a cause for concern for NetEase. Despite its strong PC debut, NetEase, known for its mobile game dominance, is making a significant push into the PC market. The game's impressive graphics and gameplay might prove challenging in attracting a new, primarily PC-based audience quickly.

Despite the mobile release being delayed (still scheduled for September), Once Human remains a highly anticipated title.
