Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering a deeply personal gaming experience.

A Game Forged From Your Memories

The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), provided a glimpse into Proxi's core mechanics. Players input their personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are fully customizable, allowing players to fine-tune the visual representation of their recollections using in-game assets.

Each memory, termed a "mem," enhances the game's AI and contributes to the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does its population, with AI representations ("Proxies") of friends and family emerging from the memories shared. The timeline is flexible, enabling players to connect memories and Proxies to recreate the context and relationships within their personal history. Remarkably, these Proxies are even exportable to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized the game's focus on creating "magical connections with memories, bringing them to life." This personal approach, he explained, stems from a belief that focusing on the player's own experiences is key to creating engaging gameplay. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players. The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements expected soon.
