Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence of Interest in the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating significant player interest in this action-packed remaster. Despite initial launch challenges including technical issues and censorship concerns, the game's sales figures clearly indicate strong demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw's unique blend of chainsaw-wielding cheerleader combat and zombie hordes has resonated with players. While the original developers didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced experience with added quality-of-life improvements.

Now, months after its September 2024 release across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via a recent tweet.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumph: A Celebration of Success

The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is invaded by the undead. Juliet's signature chainsaw provides the means for stylish hack-and-slash combat, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, reportedly selling over one million copies. This initial success was likely fueled by the unique collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's compelling narrative.

While future plans for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, such as additional content or a potential sequel, remain unannounced, the strong sales suggest a positive trend for remasters of cult classic games. This success follows the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing the action-horror experience to modern platforms.
