Marvel Snap Returns with Publisher Shift

The temporary US shutdown of TikTok on January 19th unexpectedly impacted Marvel Snap, the popular card game published by Nuverse (a ByteDance subsidiary). The game, developed by Second Dinner Studios, went offline for a day before being partially restored. However, in-app purchases remain unavailable.

This disruption, attributed to political risks surrounding TikTok's ongoing negotiations to sell a 50% stake to a US entity, prompted Second Dinner to explore alternative publishing options and internalize some services. The 90-day extension granted for this sale leaves Marvel Snap vulnerable to future disruptions if the agreement fails.

Second Dinner assures players, via an official Platform X statement, that "Marvel Snap is here to stay" and that they are diligently working to fully restore the game and in-app purchases. They've promised further updates.

While PC players via Steam remained unaffected, many users experienced authorization issues and expressed frustration over the lack of prior warning, particularly regarding in-game spending. The developers have expressed surprise at the incident and are committed to resolving the situation.
