Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the anomaly event at Turgenevskaya Station (also known as The Cursed Station). After riding the railcar with Khan, you'll find yourselves facing barricaded escalators and a group of desperate survivors.

Locating the Bomb

The survivors explain that an explosives team vanished while attempting to collapse the tunnel, preventing further nosalis attacks. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows in the main tunnel – they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger; Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse. Escape immediately to avoid the blast. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will achieve the same result. Note: even with the main tunnel destroyed, nosalises may still enter from other points.

Securing the Airlock

The mission isn't over yet. The survivors also mentioned an airlock that needs collapsing. Ascend the stairs to the right of the main platform (torchlit area). Ignore any nosalises and locate the support columns. Interact with them to place a pipe bomb; escape quickly after lighting the fuse. With both the tunnel and airlock destroyed, proceed with Khan to a small shrine room, leading to the next mission, "Armory."
