Despite the mixed reviews on Steam, Monster Hunter (MH) Wilds has achieved an astonishing milestone, with over 1 million concurrent players. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds reached an all-time peak of 1,384,608 concurrent players, far surpassing its predecessors. Monster Hunter World peaked at 334,684 players, while Monster Hunter Rise hit 231,360. However, MH Wilds currently holds a Mixed review rating on Steam, with only 57% of its 54,669 reviews being positive. Many negative reviews cite poor PC optimization and performance issues as major concerns.

Capcom Responds To PC Performance Issues

In response to the negative feedback regarding MH Wilds' PC performance, Capcom has taken action to address these concerns. Monster Hunter's official support account, Monster Hunter Status, issued a statement on Twitter (X) on February 28, 2025, offering solutions to the various issues players are facing.

The statement directed players to the MH Wilds support website, which provides detailed answers to common concerns. Capcom's suggested fixes include updating video/graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of the video driver set. For persistent issues, Capcom recommends visiting the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page for additional steps to resolve problems.

Game-breaking Bug Blocking Story Progress

A significant game-breaking bug is currently preventing story progression for some players. A crucial NPC fails to appear at the expected location, halting progress during Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on Twitter (X) on March 2, 2025, and assured players that a fix is in development.

Other reported issues include the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking despite meeting the criteria, and problems accessing the Smithy. Capcom has responded swiftly, deploying hotfixes and updates across various platforms to address these concerns.

Character Editing Locked Behind Microtransactions

In Monster Hunter Wilds, players must use microtransactions to alter their characters' appearance and that of their Palicos. The game offers the Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack, allowing three character edits for $6.00, available across all digital storefronts. While players can freely change hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing, other changes require purchasing the voucher. A similar pack is available for Palicos, and a $10 voucher allows three edits for both the character and Palico. However, Capcom is offering a single free character edit voucher. These microtransactions were not part of the game's testing phase but were announced beforehand by Capcom.

Monster Hunter Wilds is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on Monster Hunter Wilds, be sure to check out our article below!
