PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025

PlayStation Productions made a splash at CES 2025, announcing a diverse range of video game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The January 7th presentation showcased projects spanning various genres and formats.

New Adaptations Announced:

• Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Series: A new anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, produced by Crunchyroll and Aniplex, is set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition, and Sony Music providing the soundtrack.

• Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: Asad Qizilbash (Head of PlayStation Productions) and Ashley Brucks (President of Screen Gems) revealed upcoming film adaptations of Horizon Zero Dawn (produced by Sony Pictures) and Helldivers 2 (produced by Columbia Pictures). Details remain scarce.

• Until Dawn Film Adaptation: A film adaptation of Until Dawn is confirmed for release on April 25, 2025.

• The Last of Us Season Two: Neil Druckmann unveiled a new trailer for The Last of Us season two, which will adapt the storyline from The Last of Us Part II, introducing characters like Abby and Dina.

Past Successes and Future Projects:

PlayStation Productions' track record includes successful film adaptations like Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), both exceeding box office expectations. The Twisted Metal series (2023) on Peacock, while less critically acclaimed, completed production on its second season in late 2024, although a release date is pending.

Beyond the CES announcements, PlayStation Productions continues work on film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, along with a God of War TV series.
