A Pokémon player is experiencing an unusual level of popularity, or perhaps a glitch, as two NPCs relentlessly bombard them with phone calls. A short video showcases the player trapped, their in-game phone incessantly ringing.

Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls range from friendly check-ins to story updates or rematch offers. However, this player's game appears to malfunction, caught in a cycle of repeated calls from two particularly enthusiastic trainers.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder posted a video showing them cornered in a Pokémon Center. The video begins with a call from Wade the Bug Catcher, detailing his Caterpie training and a recent Pidgey encounter. Before the player can react, Youngster Joey calls, requesting a rematch on Route 30.

The relentless calls continue. After hanging up with Joey, the call repeats, followed immediately by another call from Wade, seemingly reiterating his previous message.

The cause of this incessant calling remains unclear. While Youngster Joey and the call system in Pokémon Gold and Silver are known for repetitive calls, this frequency is unusual. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs simply enjoy chatting.

Deleting numbers in the original games is possible, but incoming calls answer automatically. FodderWadder managed to escape the call loop, but only after struggling to find a break in the calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and finally leave the Pokémon Center. The experience, however, has instilled a fear of registering new numbers, lest they become trapped in another endless call loop.
