Suicide Squad's failure is still affecting Rocksteady. Another wave of layoffs at the studio

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.

The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain the game amidst poor reception and substantial financial losses estimated at $200 million by Warner Bros. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced significant layoffs in December, shedding 99 employees.

The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major story spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread complaints about gameplay led to a massive surge in refund requests—a 791% increase according to McLuck analytics.

Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
