Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the 2025 showcase season. The event will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating on January 9th.

Confirmed Games:

The showcase will feature in-depth looks at three anticipated titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: id Software's latest entry in the Doom franchise, initially announced in June 2024 and rumored for a mid-2025 launch. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few), initially revealed in June 2023. A release date is expected.

Beyond the Confirmed Titles:

Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds further unannounced surprises. The 2024 event, for instance, included previews of Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana.
