VNeID Application: Electronic Identification and Authentication

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, leverages population data for electronic identification and authentication. This application is designed for individuals residing in or traveling through Vietnam.

Key Features and Benefits:

• Digital Replacement for Traditional Documents: VNeID serves as a digital substitute for conventional identification papers, facilitating the development of digital citizenship, government, and society.
• Health and Travel Declarations: The app enables users to submit medical and domestic travel declarations swiftly.
• COVID-19 Management: It assists authorities in tracking secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying affected individuals.

Access Permissions:

By using VNeID, users consent to the following access permissions:

1. Internet Access: Allows the app to connect to the internet from the user's device.
2. Camera Access: Enables QR code scanning on Citizen ID cards to expedite the entry of basic citizen information and facilitate quick travel and medical declarations.
3. Media and File Access: Permits the app to access photos, videos, audios, and files on the device to store QR code images for verification at checkpoints.
4. Notification Permissions: Allows the app to send notifications to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection:

Users input data for medical and domestic travel declarations, either for themselves or on behalf of others with their consent. The collected personal information includes:

• Full name
• Phone number
• Citizen identification
• Gender
• Year of birth
• Permanent address
• Nationality
• Health status
• Place of departure and destination
• Vehicle number plate
• Exposure to individuals with COVID-19

All information is collected with the user's explicit permission through form submissions.

User Responsibility:

Users are solely responsible for their actions and the accuracy of the information they provide.

Privacy and Copyright Protection:

The National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, securely stores and protects user data. This information is used exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and control, health protection, and disease prevention, and is not used for commercial purposes or to infringe on private life. Data may be shared with health authorities and other relevant agencies to enhance COVID-19 prevention efforts.

The application developer does not collect or use user information for any purposes other than those stated above and will not disclose any information that could harm or violate user privacy according to Vietnamese law or the application's policy.

Additional Privacy Assurances:

• No Location Tracking: VNeID does not collect location data.
• Anonymity: Users participate in the community anonymously. Only competent authorities can identify those infected or suspected of infection due to close contact with a COVID-19 case for tracing purposes.
