Application Description:
ArtClash: Your Daily Dose of Creative Competition (Early Access)
ArtClash isn't Sketchbook, Photoshop, Procreate, or Infinite Painter. It's something new. Designed to foster daily drawing, sketching, and cartooning practice, ArtClash is a work in progress currently in early access. The core game is complete, with much more to come.
Challenge yourself by free drawing, selecting from a range of topics (with varying difficulty levels—from single words to five-word combinations), or applying constraints like time limits, color palettes, or canvas size. Earn points when others correctly guess your creations!
This solo project was initially built for personal practice, but the goal is to inspire others to draw too.
Current Features:
- Sketching, painting, and blending tools.
- Import and use images as references or painting bases.
- Participate in topic-based challenges with scoring based on correct guesses.
- Six difficulty levels for drawing prompts.
- Three constraint options (time, colors, canvas size) for bonus points.
- Free drawing mode with sharing capabilities.
- NSFW flagging for content control.
Known Issues (Early Access):
- The user interface (UI) is currently undergoing a significant overhaul, moving from Unity UI to XAML for improved responsiveness.
- On lower-end devices, using canvases smaller than 1024x1024 is recommended for optimal performance. The brush engine is GPU-accelerated but struggles with large canvases and small brushes. Performance improvements are a key focus for future updates.
Future Features:
- New game modes (starting with a drawing-based "telephone" game).
- Enhanced social features (custom avatars, comments, friend system, following).
- Improved UI and a faster, more efficient brush engine.
- Marquee selection and transformation tools.
- Expanded brush library (with user-submitted brushes).
- Advanced layer system (including features like locking transparent pixels and masking).
- Direct developer communication (feedback system for feature requests and bug reports).
- Community moderation system.
- User-submitted topics and constraints (after moderation).
- Long-term vision: full image editing, animation, scripting, and game/storyboard prototyping.
Due to current performance limitations and the lack of advanced editing tools, ArtClash is not intended as a full-fledged image editor. Its current focus is on social interaction and encouraging regular creative practice.
