A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Update

Bloodborne, the critically lauded RPG released in 2015, remains a firm fan favorite. Many players eagerly await the chance to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on modern consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring Bloodborne imagery have ignited fervent speculation.

On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One featured Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others depicted the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.

While these posts might simply be a nostalgic throwback, dedicated Bloodborne enthusiasts across platforms like Twitter (X) have meticulously examined each pixel, searching for clues confirming a long-awaited remaster. The timing feels particularly significant, especially considering a similar post by PlayStation Italia on August 17th.

PlayStation Italia's post (translated) asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting numerous comments expressing the desire for a Yharnam return, with many humorously suggesting a PC or modern console port as the most iconic location.

The Hunt Continues: Bloodborne on Modern Consoles

Bloodborne Remaster Speculation Intensifies After Official Instagram PostsReleased exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a devoted fanbase and widespread critical acclaim, frequently cited among the greatest video games ever created. Despite this, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.

Fans often cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a precedent, but concerns linger about the potential wait. Given Demon's Souls' decade-long journey to a remake, fears exist that Bloodborne might face a similar fate. As the game approaches its tenth anniversary, the anticipation for a remastered version is at fever pitch.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki, in a February Eurogamer interview, further fueled the speculation. While not confirming anything definitively, he acknowledged the advantages of remastering for modern hardware, emphasizing the increased accessibility for a wider audience.

Unlike Elden Ring (which FromSoftware fully publishes), Bloodborne's rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated in interviews with IGN that he's unable to comment specifically on Bloodborne due to FromSoftware's lack of IP ownership.
