DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Introduce Its Own Marauder

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 26,2025

Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a formidable new adversary set to replace the Marauder in the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages. This isn't just a souped-up version of the Marauder; Agadon is a completely unique foe that brings a fresh challenge to the game. Drawing inspiration from multiple bosses, Agadon boasts the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect projectiles from the Doom Slayer. With a variety of combo attacks at his disposal, players will need to master the use of a sawtooth shield, reminiscent of the gameplay in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which has significantly influenced the developers. The confrontation with Agadon will serve as the ultimate test of all the skills players have honed throughout the game, akin to a final exam.

The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss, believing that players are ready for an elevated challenge. The previous issues with the Marauder stemmed not from the difficulty itself but from how it was presented and explained. Many mechanics required to defeat the Marauder were introduced abruptly, leading to dissatisfaction among players due to the sudden shift in gameplay dynamics. To address these concerns, the developers aim to introduce mechanics more smoothly and better prepare players for what's to come.
