According to insider AusilMV, known for reliable game leaks, Season 5 of MultiVersus might be the final season if it doesn't perform well. This season, launching in early February, is seen as a last-ditch effort to save the game. While this remains a rumor, the situation is concerning.

MultiVersus saw explosive success at its 2022 launch, peaking at 153,000 players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly after, leading Warner Bros. Games to shut it down in June 2023, labeling it as an "open beta test." Despite a return in May 2024 with updates, the game struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

This relaunch of MultiVersus is critical, though the developers have chosen to call the original 2022 release a "beta." The decision to temporarily shut down the game in June 2023 was met with frustration, particularly from players who had purchased the premium edition to support the developers.
