Hazelight Games is celebrating a phenomenal launch for their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, which has sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The game's sales momentum was evident from the start, with 1 million copies sold in the first 48 hours following its launch. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, showcasing the game's strong appeal and the compelling narrative of protagonists Mio and Zoe in their sci-fi adventure.

Split Fiction's cooperative gameplay model suggests that the actual number of players is significantly higher than the sales figures indicate, thanks to the innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, further amplifying its reach and engagement within the gaming community. As the buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous success with 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two set a high bar, having sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021. The game's popularity soared, reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million copies by October 2024, demonstrating the studio's consistent ability to captivate gamers.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
